Coheed and Cambria...Like anything you do, as anyone you are!

Hello, regards to all my readers! This time around I decided to write a review in english for a change, this also saves me time as I have already published a review about this concert in a Coheed and Cambria fan site called Cobalt and Calcium. As usual I will begin by describing the venue. The show took place at Sala Heineken in Madrid. The Sala Heineken is a really nice bar with an intimate concert hall. It is very easy to access, just hop out at the Plaza España subway station that is reached by line 10 of the Madrid metro system. The concert hall is sponsored by Heineken, it’s a really cool place it has a chill out area with some couches and tables, away from the stage, in front of the stage about 10 meters away you find the bar. The stage and the hall make a very intimate ambience with very good acoustics, and capacity for some hundreds of people not more.

I got to the venue about an hour before the show. I explored the hall and found myself a spot in the barricade in front of the stage. As I was there waiting alone I got myself a beer and started shooting some pics.

I saw that I wasn’t too far away from the set list so I tried to get closer and take a picture to see if I could make out the names of the song Co&Ca were going to play. There was a security guy just in front of me and told me I could not come any closer. I established a conversation with him; we talked about other rock concerts and events he had attended to including korn and festimad. I asked the security guy if he could take a picture of the setlist for me and he agreed. This is what came out:

Nice uh? I knew what song were going to be played, and shared my newly acquired info with some fellow fans next to me in the first row. The downside: the security guy begged me not to use the flash in the front row, as the stage is a bit high and the flash often blinded the musicians. After being so cooperative with me, I thought it best to do the same, that’s why some pictures are kind of crappy not to mention that my camera is literally falling apart (It’s been so good to me). He told me I could use the flash if I did the shots some rows back (I wasn’t leaving my spot in first row!).

The show was supposed to have begun by 9:30pm but at that time there crew members finishing off sound testing. Coheed and Cambria came out 15 minutes late (not a good sign). This is the first show that I’ve attended in Madrid and has not begun sharp.

It was a very disappointing show. I don't blame the band as much as a bunch of f*ckers in the audience. Coheed played with a replacement drummer, Claudio said Josh didn't make it to Europe cause he was sick. So they were limited to playing the songs Josh replacement had rehearsed. He introduced the guy but I didn't get his name I think he’s the drum tech for the band (and the convenient fill in). I've never been to a Co&Ca show before, but the sound was awsome, the voice a little low.

The song were great! Beautifully played, the crowd was very much into it as well, we sang every “HAHA!” and every “Wow, wow, wow, wow , wow!” and every Chorus. You could tell the people in the audience were true fans, because Claudio would keep silent at times so we could sing out parts of the chorus. For me is difficult to pick a favorite live song form the set, I liked all of them even the encore. I think the setlist was missing some songs from second stage, but I also got a feeling Claudio was saving Everything Evil for the encore (read ahead) which he never got to play.

After playing a shot setlist of 7 songs and about 40minutes, the crowd got angry and started screaming for more. A roadie came out and said that the drummer didn't know anymore songs but Claudio had agreed to come out and play a few songs even though he had a sore throat (that's why the vocals were so low). He started playing Wake Up on the guitar. He didn't make the really high notes while singing but he did really well, the crowd took out their lighters and everyone flowed Claudio clapping and humming along (well almost everyone). A fucker who was in the middle of the pit started screaming sh*t at Claudio when he first came out to play. When Claudio was about to finish playing Wake Up this F*cker threw a coin at Claudio and it impacted his guitar. That was it! Claudio said: "Thanks a lot, you fucker!" then he laid down the guitar and walked away. F*king pussy ruined it for the others, thanks a lot *sshole. I'm pretty sure the band left feeling miserable, even though they had most of the audience support. I hope I get to see them again, çause what I saw and heard I really liked, but I admit I was let down by the set being so short.

The setlist:
